Tuesday and Wednesday, two versions of the open source FTP client FileZilla were released in quick succession. FileZilla is small, simple and yet complete. The program is popular due to its low system resource load. However, a common complaint is that passwords are stored unencrypted on the computer. FileZilla is available for Windows, Linux, and OS X, and can be downloaded from this page be downloaded in different versions. In versions 3.7.2 and 3.7.3, the security updates from PuTTY 0.6.3 are included in the FileZilla source code.

Fixed vulnerabilities:

  • Apply a fix for a security vulnerability in PuTTY as used in FileZilla to handle SFTP. see CVE-2013-4852 for reference.

Bug fixes and minor changes:

  • Provided Linux binaries are now built against Debian Wheezy
