Software Update: DVD Region+CSS Free & DVDIdle 5.9.6.8

Fengtao Software has updated its DVD Region+CSS Free Lite, DVD Region+CSS Free, DVDIdle and DVDIdle Pro programs to version 5.9.6.8. Depending on which program is used, DVDs can be viewed and copied region-free, even if they are protected against this. In addition, they also aim to extend the life of the DVD drive by caching files, thus sparing the running gear. This page provides a good overview of the differences between these programs. Among the changes we find, among other things, another improvement with the removal of Sony’s ARccOS security. The full changelog looks like this:

Changes in this release:

• Change: Improved “Sony ARccOS protection” removal engine.
• Change: For Sony ARccOS protected DVDs, the black screen at the start of movie (about 2 seconds) is deleted completely now.
• Fix: A corrupt data problem when copying “Wedding Crashers” (US).
