Software Update: Dropbox 2.4.0

A new stable version of Dropbox has been released. Dropbox is an online storage service that makes it possible to synchronize files between different computers. In addition, files and photo albums can be shared with people who don’t have Dropbox accounts. Clients are available for Windows, Linux, OS X, iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Kindle Fire. A free account gives you access to only 2GB of storage, with the option to expand it by introducing new users. For ten, twenty or fifty dollars a month, that’s 100GB, 200GB or 500GB respectively. In version 2.4.0 the following improvements have been made:

Notes:

  • Screenshot to Dropbox is only supported on Windows and Mac. To trigger it just take a screenshot using Print Screen on Windows or on Mac see here.
  • Move to Dropbox is a context menu item that will show up for most files or folders outside of your Dropbox.
  • Import from iPhoto is only supported on Mac with iPhoto 7.0 or higher. It will show up as a notification in your tray menu if you have photos in your iPhoto library. Your photos events will be imported into a folder called “Photos from iPhoto” with subfolders folders by event.
