Software Update: BitTorrent 4.2.0

Spread the love

After a long series of beta releases, the first stable version in the 4.1 branch of BitTorrent has just been released. The BitTorrent protocol, it will be known by now, was developed by Bram Cohen and is intended to allow the easy distribution of large and popular files, without requiring the original distributor to have a very large pipe to the Internet. Everyone who downloads also immediately helps with the further distribution of the files. In version 4.2.0, which is currently somewhat difficult to download due to the large crowds, no changes have been made compared to version 4.1.8 beta, which was released a few days ago, apart from two minor bug fixes:

Changes in this release:

  • First stable release of the 4.1 Beta series, incorporates all features and improvements from 4.1
  • Two microscopic bug fixes:
    • Fix rare bug when opening trackerless torrent files
    • Removed extraneous print statement
