Information from an unannounced Intel NUC 12 Enthusiast has surfaced online. This mini PC probably has an Alder Lake processor and new DG2 video card from Intel. The NUC would also offer DisplayPort 2.0 support, the slide shows.

A marketing slide with information about Intel’s upcoming NUC PCs appeared on Chinese social medium Weibo and was noticed by Twitter user HXL. This shows that Intel would come up with at least three NUC 12 Enthusiast models.

One of the models would have a ‘next generation’ Intel Core i5 CPU, presumably from the upcoming Alder Lake series. That variant would also get a separate Intel DG2 GPU with 8GB GDDR6 memory. The Intel slide also mentions the arrival of two Core i7 variants, which respectively would get GPUs with 12GB and 16GB video memory.

The slide states that the video cards used offer an HDMI 2.1 connection, in addition to a Mini DisplayPort 2.0 and regular DisplayPort 2.0 connector. Current modern video cards from AMD, Nvidia and Intel do not yet support DisplayPort 2.0, which suggests that the upcoming NUC will get a new GPU model. It is already known that Intel this year with separate DG2 GPUs for gaming. The memory arrangements of 8GB, 12GB and 16GB GDDR6 also correspond to previously leaked information about Intel’s DG2 chips.

DisplayPort 2.0 offers, among other things, a higher bandwidth, with which the display technology offers support for uncompressed 8k resolutions at 60Hz and with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. Display stream compression would theoretically allow users to connect two 8k displays to a single DisplayPort 2.0 connector.

All NUC 12 Enthusiast models would further offer two SO-DIMM slots for up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 memory. The Intel slide talks about two M.2 2280 slots for PCIe 4.0 SSDs and a single M.2 slot for a PCIe 3.0 or SATA drive. The mini PCs would also offer two Thunderbolt 4 ports. They use the USB-C connection, just like Thunderbolt 3. Intel would also provide the NUC 12 Enthusiast models with a Wi-Fi 6E module and an i225-LM nic for 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet.
