The second season of Fortnite’s second chapter will begin on February 20. That is two weeks later than planned. Once the game is out, it uses the Unreal Engine’s Chaos system. Many details about the new season are not yet known.

Developer Epic Games announced the release date in a blog post. The maker does not give many details yet. The blog post contains a few spoiler tags to supposedly hide text. “We can’t tell you all the secrets of the new season yet,” Epic writes. The developer writes that as long as the current season runs, there will be a number of Overtime Challenges, and a new bi-weekly event. Chapter 2 of the game has been playable since October in the first season. Initially, it looked like the second season would be released on February 6. That date appeared in game files, among other things. That is now two weeks later.

Beginning in season two, Fortnite uses the Unreal Engine’s Chaos Physics system. What that means in practice is not yet entirely clear. Epic hasn’t said anything about that yet either. The new engine may mean more interaction with the environment. The developer writes that the intention is that “Fortnite continues to feel like Fortnite”, and that it therefore first wants to do tests with a limited number of players.
