Video conferencing software Zoom is rumored to be expanded to include email and a calendar to compete with the offerings from Google and Microsoft. Email via a web client could possibly be tested early next year.

The email client has been in development for some time now, according to rumor published by The Information and reported by The Verge. The calendar application would take longer and it is not yet clear whether its development has already started.

Zoom gained hundreds of millions of users because of the corona pandemic, but the question is whether they will remain if the pandemic is over and people mainly start working in the office again. With the extensions, the company probably wants to try to remain relevant in the coming years, by offering a more complete alternative to the comparable services of Google and Microsoft.

Zoom vacancies also point to the arrival of more functionality. For example, it is stated in vacancy texts that work is being done on new chat features and the existing integrations with apps such as Asana and Dropbox. Zoom has not commented on the rumor.
