Sony may come up with a Pro controller for the PlayStation 5. Insider Tom Henderson claims this based on his own sources. Sony would soon announce the controller, although it is not yet known when exactly.

The controller would resemble the current DualSense controller, but would have several new features, writes Henderson for Try Hard Guides. The usually well-informed Henderson says he has received photos from the controller on the condition that they are not published and that the source remains anonymous.

According to Henderson, the Pro controller will include trigger stops that make it possible to press the L2 and R2 buttons more quickly. The controller would also get paddles on the back, which function as extra buttons. Manufacturers such as Scuf and Nacon, among others, offer such features in their controllers.

Furthermore, the analog sticks are completely interchangeable. It is not known whether Sony supplies different sizes of thumbsticks, as Microsoft does with the Xbox Elite Controller, for example; it can also be used to swap an analog stick if it develops stick drift. The photos also show removable grips on the sides of the controller, which should make it easier to hold, according to Henderson. There is further talk of ‘software upgrades’, although there is no mention of what that entails.

According to Henderson sources, Sony is announcing the Pro controller “soon.” The insider learns from other sources that Sony will announce new hardware “in the coming weeks”, although it is not known whether the Pro controller will also be shown. In any case, Henderson emphasizes that Sony will not show a new console during that event.
