Japanese game developer and publisher Konami no longer has any console or PC games in production besides Metal Gear Online and Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. The company may focus only on mobile games in the future.

In addition to PES and Metal Gear online, the company holds the license for a European Championship 2016 game, which it may also work with in due course, anonymous sources report to Gameblog.fr. Other than that, Konami is not working on any triple-A titles. This while in March of this year Konami still posted vacancies to bring in developers for the development of new Metal Gear Solid games. The sources report that no one has subsequently been hired at Konami.

Negative news has been coming out with some regularity about Konami lately. Hideo Kojima, the mind behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise, has now left the company. This would be because the production of Metal Gear Solid, which reportedly cost $80 million, would be too expensive in the eyes of Konami. In addition, an extensive article by the Japanese newspaper Nikkei reports that employees at Konami are closely monitored, among other things, and they are assigned simple, humiliating tasks if they are not useful enough for the company.

In May of this year, Konami announced that it would focus primarily on mobile games. Julien Merceron, the developer of the Fox Engine, which includes MGSV, disagrees and recently resigned in response. The sources of Gameblog.fr also report that. Konami is known for franchises such as Castlevania, Contra, Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Silent Hill. Development of a new game in the latter franchise has also been halted.
