Rumor: iPhone SE successor to be released before summer 2018

Apple will release a successor to the iPhone SE before the summer of next year. This is reported by a Taiwanese newspaper based on its own sources. The first iPhone SE appeared in March 2016 and did not receive a successor this year.

CENS does not mention any specs of the new device, but only seems to know that the device should go into mass production before the end of March. That points to a release next spring. That would be about two years after the first iPhone SE appeared. That happened at the end of March 2016.

It would again be a device with a 4″ screen. It is obvious that Apple again chooses to reduce the price to reuse the design of the iPhone 5s and only renew the parts. no reliable rumors about the components or appearance of the upcoming device.

Apple would like to target emerging markets with the new iPhone SE and the new SE would go into production at a factory in India. For many potential customers in emerging markets, devices like the iPhone 8 are too expensive. Some users in western countries have also opted for the smaller size of the SE in the past year and a half.

The manufacturer itself has not yet confirmed the arrival of the next small phone. It did show a slide during the last keynote in September, in which it emphatically showed the SE as the cheapest iPhone in the line-up.
