HTC would like to release its new flagship, the M8 Prime, later this year. UnwiredView reports this on Monday. The M8 Prime is said to be a premium model of the current M8, offering similar specs to the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime.

According to UnwiredView, the HTC M8 Prime will have a 5.5” QHD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The device would also have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor with a clock speed of 2.5GHz and 3GB of RAM on board. With this, the hardware of the M8 Prime does not differ much from the previously confirmed LG G3 and the still unannounced Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime.

If the M8 Prime actually has a Snapdragon 805 soc, the phone will also support Category 6 lte, theoretically achievable download speeds of 301.5Mbps and upload speeds of up to 51Mbps. The smartphone will also reportedly consist of a combination of aluminum and liquid silicone, also called aluminum-silicon carbide, and be waterproof.

HTC probably wants to keep the power users with the M8 Prime. The device may be a response to LG’s G3 smartphone, which is expected to be released next week. The new high-end smartphone from LG, according to the company, includes an ah-ips screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.
