Rumor: Google is working on new Google Home

Google is working on a new smart speaker codenamed “prince,” according to a rumor. The speaker would be seen as an improved Google Home that should come out under the Nest brand and get larger drivers, among other things.

The Nest speaker that Google is working on according to 9to5Google will have a design that is in line with that of the Nest Mini, Nest Hub and Home Max. Site sources compare it to the Sonos One and the speaker is said to have larger drivers than the Google Home’s 2″ driver. The upcoming speaker would not have a screen like the Nest Hub. Further details about ‘prince ‘ are not yet known.

Google introduced the Google Home in 2016 and the Home Mini and the Home Max followed a year later. The Home Mini got a successor in the form of the Nest Mini. The original Google Home is no longer sold by Google itself. Google still supplies the Home Max in countries where this device was released. It is not known whether Google is also working on a successor to the Home Max under the Nest name.
