Redmi comes with a successor to the Redmi K20. The Redmi K30 comes in two variants, with a 4g and a 5g modem respectively. The device has a 120Hz LCD. It is not yet known whether the device will be released in the EU. Xiaomi released the K20 under a different name in Europe.

Xiaomi comes with two different K30 models: the Redmi K30 with a 4G modem, and the Redmi K30 5G. The 4g model gets a Snapdragon 730G chip. That is a slightly faster variant of the Snapdragon 730 that is in the original Redmi K20. The 5g model features the recently announced Snapdragon 765G. This makes the K30 5G the first device with this soc, which is produced on a 7nm process with euv lithography. The soc also supports 5G MultiLink, which allows users to be simultaneously connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, a 5GHz network, and a 4G or 5G network.

Both variants have a 15.45cm by 7.45cm LCD with a 6.67″ diagonal and a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels at a refresh rate of 120Hz. This makes the Redmi K30 the cheapest smartphone with a 120Hz at the time of writing. It is an LCD, as in the Razer Phone models. There are also OLED screens with 120Hz support, Asus uses that in the ROG Phone II. The screen is further made of Gorilla Glass 5 from Corning and supports HDR10. A 20-megapixel selfie camera is incorporated into a hole in the screen, along with a depth sensor.

The Redmi K30 phones have four cameras on the back. The primary camera has a 64-megapixel sensor from Sony. The device also has a camera with a wide-angle lens and a depth sensor. The 5g model has a 5 megapixel camera with a macro lens, while the 4g model has a 2 megapixel resolution. The phone can record up to 4k videos at 30 frames per second. When the resolution is lowered to 1080p, it is up to 60fps.

The Redmi K30 5G

The Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 5G come in variants with up to 256GB of storage capacity and up to 8GB of ram. Both devices have a 3.5mm jack and a fingerprint scanner that is integrated into the on/off button. The smartphones also offer space for a second nano SIM card or a micro SD card. The K30 series has a battery capacity of 4500mAh with support for fast charging technology via USB-C. The 5g model charges with a maximum power of 30W, while the 4g variant charges a maximum of 27W. The device comes with Miui 11, which is based on Android 10.

The Redmi K30 will be on sale in China from December 12, with a converted starting price of currently around 205 euros. The Redmi K30 5G will be released on the Chinese market in January 2020 from 255 euros. These prices do not yet include European tax. It is still unknown whether the brand will come up with a variant for the European market. If it does, then the phones will likely be more expensive.
