Razer reached more than $1 billion in sales in 2020 for the first time and made a profit for the first time since 2014. The turnover comes mainly from the sale of hardware. The brand mainly makes laptops and accessories for gamers.

Razer’s total revenue last year was more than $1.2 billion, an increase of 48 percent from a year earlier. Most of that revenue comes from the sale of hardware: 1.1 billion dollars. That is an increase of 51.8 percent compared to 2019.

Razer doesn’t disclose sales figures for specific products or product groups, but according to the company, categories such as mice, keyboards and headsets performed well. The company claims to have gained significant market share with such products. The number of users with a Razer account increased by 53.8 percent to 123 million. The number of monthly active users increased by 68.2 percent, but Razer won’t say how many there are.

Razer’s good numbers are probably related to the corona pandemic and the lock-downs, which have increased the demand for games and related products. According to previous research by Superdata, the PC and console games market grew by 28 percent in 2020. Razer makes accessories for both PC and console gamers.

Below the line, Razer was left with $805,000 after taxes. Last year, the company made a loss of $83.5 million. According to Bloomberg, it is the first time since 2014 that Razer has returned to profit. The company was founded in 1998 and went public in 2017.
