Overwatch in-game money will be carried over to Overwatch 2

Any in-game currency that Overwatch players have will be carried over when they move to Overwatch 2, the developers confirmed in an AMA session on Reddit. Unopened loot boxes from the first game will also be opened automatically.

In the mail early a Reddit user what happens to the in-game money when Overwatch 2 becomes available. Although the developers could not provide a detailed answer yet, they could already confirm that credits, OWL tokens and competitive points carry over to the next game. The developers say that Overwatch 2 will contain a new main currency, which replaces the credits from Overwatch. There are certain items in the new game that cannot be purchased with Overwatch Credits.

Since Overwatch 2 will not contain loot boxes, the unopened loot boxes from the first game will automatically be opened before the release of Overwatch 2. All items from the boxes will go directly to the player’s account. Instead of loot boxes, an in-game store will be available where players can purchase items and skins. Overwatch 2 will also get seasons that last a few months, in which players can buy a Battle Pass to get new content.

It is not clear how much the new Battle Passes and store content will cost. Overwatch 2 will release in early access on October 4, then the first season starts. The game gets three new heroes, six maps and thirty new skins. Blizzard also wants to bring new game modes to the game, including Push and a pve mode. The second season will start on December 6.
