Nvidia is making the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti for laptops available. The RTX 3080 Ti has 16GB DDR6 video memory. The company is also introducing the fourth generation of its Max-Q technology for high graphics performance with thin laptops.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti enables more than 120fps at 1440p resolution at Ultra settings on laptops, according to Nvidia. The manufacturer further claims that the performance is higher than the Titan RTX, a desktop card from late 2018. The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will appear from February 1 in laptops with a starting price of $2,500, including the Alienware x15.

From that date, laptops with the RTX 3070 Ti will also appear. That would offer 70 percent higher performance than the RTX 2070 Super and allow 100fps frame rates at 1440p resolutions. Laptops with this gpu appear for a starting price of $1500 and the MSI GS77, among others, will be available with the video card.

At the same time, Nvidia is announcing the fourth generation of its Max-Q technology. With this technology, which Nvidia first introduced in 2017, the company wants to offer the highest possible gaming performance on thin and light laptops. The fourth generation offers, among other things, a low-level framework for cooperation with the CPU.

The GPU can also lower the performance, temperature and energy of the CPU if there is room for this, in order to be able to offer higher performance. Nvidia is working with ‘cpu suppliers’ for this, but the company does not clarify whether this concerns both Intel and AMD. The GPU with Max-Q 4 can also adjust the amount of cores faster if applications benefit from this. The Battery Boost functionality has been updated to version 2.0 for longer battery life. but Nvidia doesn’t report what the improvements entail, other than that it uses AI for the balance between CPU, GPU and battery performance.
