Facepunch Studios, creator of Rust and Garry’s Mod, is releasing its new game Clatter in December. This is a turn-based game that revolves around tactical battles between teams of robots. The game gives the impression of a cross between chess and XCOM.

The developer reports on Twitter that the game will be released in December, without mentioning a specific release date. Clatter will be a game designed for multiplayer, but can also be played in single player. Teams have different types of robots, such as grabbers, flippers, and mortars, all of which have their own strengths and weaknesses and fit within a team in different ways. There is also variation in the playing fields; screenshots show that there are not only height differences, but also tiles that appear to be completely impassable.

A price for the game has not been announced at this time. It is likely that Facepunch Studios wants to have the game on the market before Christmas. Facepunch Studios is known for the now twelve year old Garry’s Mod; this game earned the studio $30 million between 2006 and 2014. The studio is also responsible for Rust, a popular online survival game.
