MSI has quietly released a revamped version of its Modern 14 laptop. The new laptop features mobile Ryzen 4000 CPUs with Zen 2 cores at 7nm and an integrated Vega GPU. A Ryzen 5 variant is currently for sale at an American webshop for $650.

The laptop was put on MSI’s website without notice, and was noticed by Twitter user _rogame. MSI already sells some Modern 14 laptops with 10th-generation Intel Core CPUs, but hasn’t offered a variant with AMD’s Ryzen processors yet. The manufacturer now comes with an AMD model.

The Modern 14 maxes out with a Ryzen 7 4700U CPU with eight cores without SMT. MSI also uses the integrated Vega GPU, and supplies the laptop with up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 memory. The laptop has a single m2 connection for storage. The IPS screen has a screen diagonal of 14″ and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

MSI provides the laptop with two USB 2.0 type-A connections, a single USB 3.2 gen 1 type-C connector, a micro-SD card reader and an HDMI connection. The laptop also has a 3.5mm jack for audio. The laptop can optionally be equipped with an 802.11ax radio for WiFi 6. The battery has a capacity of 52Wh, and is charged with an included 65W charger.

The laptop is 319mm wide, 220.2mm high and 16.9mm thick. The Modern 14 weighs 1.3 kilograms according to MSI. The product is equipped with two speakers, each of which offers a power of 2W. The laptop also has a 720p webcam with a maximum frame rate of 30fps.

MSI’s website currently states that the laptop will be on the market ‘soon’. No exact release date is mentioned here. There is also no mention of suggested retail prices. At the American retailer HidEvolution, however, a variant with Ryzen 5 4500U with six cores, 8GB ram and a 256GB NVme SSD is for sale for $ 649. Converted and including VAT, this amounts to approximately 708 euros. According to that webshop, the laptop will be delivered ‘beginning of July’.
