Microsoft is bringing a dictation feature to Word Online and OneNote Online. The move is part of a series of measures to support users with dyslexia. The browser services will also receive support for real-time translation.

Sometime in the coming weeks, the speech-to-text feature will be coming to Word Online and OneNote Online. The online versions of PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook will follow next year. The move follows the addition of the Dictation button in Office 365 desktop apps and is part of the Made by Dyslexia initiative, which Microsoft is behind.

Part of this is that the Immersive Reader in OneNote will gain support for mathematics and thus make a clearer distinction between text and formulas. In addition, Word Online, OneNote Online, OneNote for Windows 10, OneNote iPad, OneNote Mac, Outlook Online, Teams and Flipgrid will support real-time translations of pages and selected words.
