Microsoft has added a virtual touchpad to the latest Insiders build of Windows 10. The tool, which will presumably come with the Creators Update in the regular version of Windows 10, will allow users to control a mouse pointer without having a mouse.

In the new build, users can activate the virtual touchpad by long-pressing the taskbar and activating the function there. Then a button will appear on the taskbar. Whoever presses it, gets the virtual touchpad on the screen, Microsoft writes.

The feature in build 14965 is primarily intended for users with a tablet that connect an external monitor. That way, connecting a mouse is no longer required for use as a desktop, says the Redmond software maker.

A few weeks ago, Microsoft presented the Creators Update for Windows 10, the next major update to the operating system. That new version of Windows will be released next spring.
