Meet the electric Porsche: the Taycan

Spread the love

Porsche has finally revealed the name of her first electric car. The car, which was previously known as the Mission E is now called the Taycan. That apparently means ‘jumpy young horse’ in a certain dialect. It is not a fantastic name for a car that might go into the history books as a pioneer, but well, Porsche should know that.

Whether that history is actually written is still the question. The Taycan can not accelerate as fast as a top-of-the-line Tesla, but if you can pull to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.5 seconds and within 12 seconds to 200 you’ll have a fast car. The 600 hp (440 kW) engines (yes, there are two). With all that speed you would expect that the range might suffer, but that is not the case: the Taycan gets well over 500 kilometers on a full battery.

Porsche has shown little of the design in the revelation video, just as not many pictures are available for the new model. That is damn pity, because the line of this Taycan is beautiful. Hopefully we will soon see something more about this beautiful electric car.
