Maxon has released a new version of its popular Cinebench benchmarking tool. This new version features a new rendering engine, Redshift from Cinema 4D. This also means that a GPU benchmark will be available in the tool for the first time in years.

Cinebench 2024 is available for both x86/64 architectures and Arm64, reports maker Maxon in a press release. The benchmark tool is therefore compatible with the x86 and Arm versions of Windows and also works with macOS. The GPU benchmark can also handle video cards from AMD and Nvidia and the integrated GPUs of Apple’s own Arm chips. The software company does not talk about compatibility with Intel GPUs.

With Cinebench 2024, Maxon is switching to Cinema4D’s Redshift as a rendering engine. To date, the benchmark tool used Cinema4D’s default renderer. The new version makes GPU benchmarks possible, among other things. According to Maxon, the ability to benchmark video cards has been missing from the tool ‘for the past decade’.

The tool will also have a new interface. Performance also changes. According to Maxon, the memory footprint is three times larger than that of Cinebench R23. ‘Computational effort’ is six times higher. This also means that the results from Cinebench 2024 cannot be compared with the results from previous versions. Cinebench 2024 can be downloaded for free on the Maxon website.
