iPhone 11 registers your location, even without permission
Apple has admitted that the iPhone 11 (Pro) collects location data. Even if you have indicated separately for each app that that is not the intention. Apple says it cannot be otherwise at the moment. What is going on?

Security journalist Brian Krebs discovered that the latest iPhone continues to register your location, even though you have indicated that no app can do that. See the video below for a demonstration. The flag indicating that the iPhone is registering your location pops up while all switches are turned off. Apple has indicated that this is correct, and has since explained that it cannot be otherwise. These are more or less secret system settings that the user cannot access. They do indeed register your location from time to time, so you will indeed see the flag appear. And as a user, you have no possibility to turn this off.

Ultra Wideband
The strange behavior of the new iPhones has everything to do with a new technology that is built into the devices: Ultra-Wideband (UWB). Apple says there are international rules that require UWB to be disabled at specific locations. Your iPhone will monitor whether you are in such places so that UWB can be switched off. According to Apple, this happens completely on your iPhone and the data is not collected anywhere.
For the future, Apple would be planning to build in a switch to turn off UWB on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max. That way you can prevent the tracking of your location in the background. So it is waiting for an iOS 13 update.
