Image shows Apple battery case with less noticeable bulge

Apple is reportedly coming with three new Smart Battery Cases and it may be covers for the three new iPhone models. An image shows that the bulge in front of the battery is larger and less noticeable.

The information comes from 9to5Mac, which also has images of the battery cases. You can see that the recess for the dual camera has been cut vertically. The cameras are placed vertically on the new iPhone models. Below the recess is the battery, which now extends to both the sides and the bottom. This makes the bump less noticeable than that of the old Smart Battery Case.

9to5Mac also points out that this may mean that the battery capacity is higher. That capacity is not yet known. There are three different models, with type numbers A2070, A2071 and A2171. These probably correspond to the three sizes of the new iPhones: 5.8-, 6.1- and 6.5″.

It would be the first time that Apple releases its own battery cases for the large iPhone models. There are indications that Apple will release the battery covers this year. The first time Apple released its own battery cases was also in December, in 2015.
