Microsoft has put a recovery image online for the Surface Laptop. This allows users who have upgraded to Windows 10 Pro to go back to Windows 10 S, the version of the operating system that comes standard on the laptop.

Users can update to Windows 10 Pro with data retention from Windows 10 S on the Surface Laptop through the Windows Store. Conversely, users could not downgrade, for example because the user was not satisfied with the battery life under Windows 10 Pro.

Going back to Windows 10 S is done via the recovery image that Microsoft has put online. To do this, users must enter their serial number. With the installation of the recovery image, all user data will be lost. That is not the case with the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Microsoft released the Surface Laptop last week. Last weekend it turned out that the laptop will be difficult to repair if it breaks. Repair website iFixit gave the laptop the lowest score. The Surface Laptop costs in the Benelux from 1149 euros.
