Huawei introduces Honor 9 smartphone

Huawei has announced the Honor9 smartphone during a presentation in China. The high-quality smartphone from Huawei subsidiary Honor will be available in China on June 16, but when the device will come to Europe is still unclear.

The device has a 5.15 “screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The Honor 9 has the Kirin 960 soc, which is also in the Mate 9 and the P10. This soc has four Cortex A73 and four Cortex A53 cores; the GPU is the Mali G71 MP8. The Honor 9 comes with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and comes in a version with 64GB and 128GB storage memory.The device has a dual camera in the form of a 12-megapixel camera and a 20-megapixel camera On the front is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies.

The device contains a fingerprint scanner, an infrared sensor and has a 3.5mm headphone connection and a USB-C port. The Honor 9 will have a battery with a capacity of 3200mAh. The phone has a metal body with a glass back. The Honor 9 runs on Android 7.0, measures 147.3×70.9×7.45mm and weighs 155 grams. The device comes in blue, gold, gray and black.

The Honor 9 will be available on June 16 at select Chinese stores. It is still unclear when the device will be released in Europe. The model with 4GB ram and 64GB storage memory will cost 300 euros converted; the model with 6GB ram and 64GB storage memory costs 355 euros and the model with 6GB ram and 128GB storage memory costs 395 euros.

The predecessor of the Honor 9, the Honor 8, was released in the Benelux in August 2016. That device shares many features with the Huawei P9, which came out a few months before the introduction of the Honor 8. The Honor 8 has a dual camera, a 5.2 “screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a Kirin 950 as a soc. The version in the Benelux came with 4GB of RAM and a storage size of 32GB.
