Google Drive is lifting the limit of five million items

Google Drive is lifting the five million item limit again. The company has announced this. The search giant had set the limit several months ago, but had not told users about it nor put anything about it in support documentation.

The limit affected ‘a limited number of people’, says Google. This probably involved the largest and highest paying customers. According to Google, the limit was necessary to ensure the stability of web storage and optimize performance. Now Google is going to find other ways to do this, without limiting the number of files that are possible in a Drive account.

Google now says so that if it makes changes, it will notify customers and users in advance. That didn’t happen now. The fact that the limit existed only became apparent when reports emerged. Only then did the company confirm there was a limit.
