WhatsApp is working on a function to save disappearing messages

Meta chat app WhatsApp is working on a way to save a disappearing message. This is evident from the beta version of the app for Android and iOS. Users can add a message to bookmarks to see it after it should have disappeared.

Those bookmarks are for messages that users in a group chat find important. Anyone can add anyone’s post as a bookmark, writes WABetaInfo. Anyone can then remove a message from the bookmarks, after which it is gone forever, the site claims. It is unknown if this is the intended behavior of bookmarks or if it is a poorly implemented feature in the beta.

The feature is in 2.23.8.3 for Android and 23.7.0.72 for iOS, which is currently only available to beta users. In addition, it seems that by no means all users with the beta have the feature. That will come in the coming weeks, according to the site. WhatsApp hasn’t said anything about the feature yet, but since it’s in iOS and Android, it looks like WhatsApp wants to test the feature soon.
