The creator of the popular smartphone game Flappy Bird, Dong Nguyen, will release a new version in August. Nguyen has pulled the original version of Flappy Bird from the app stores because the game is said to be too addictive.

The new version of the game will be less addictive, according to Nguyen. He has that indicated opposite CNBC. In addition, the game will include a multiplayer mode. What that multiplayer mode will look like and what measures Nguyen will take to make the game less addictive is still unclear at the moment.

Nguyen withdrew Flappy Bird from the app stores in February, after the game had become extremely popular in a short time. The Vietnamese developer, who was raking in an estimated $50,000 a day in advertising revenue, said he couldn’t handle the pressure. He would also have felt guilty about the addictive aspect of the game. In his own words, he used to be addicted to games.
