Firmware update: Synology DSM 6.2 RC


 Synology logo (45 pix) Synology has released release version 6.2 of Disk Station Manager. Synology DSM is the management software that runs on various nas products of the company. The Disk, Cube and Rack Stations offer more than just extra storage space. This way, backups of all clients on the network can also be made and files can be downloaded via http, ftp, bittorrent, usenet and emule, so that, for example, energy-efficient PCs can go out at night, while the download simply arrives. Furthermore, audio and video files can be streamed over the network via the built-in iTunes server, a dynamic website can be hosted using php and MySQL and the device can act as a print server.
To be able to install version 6.2, a minimal version will be required. 6.0 must be present. Furthermore, it is only suitable for the nasmodellen of which the type number ends at 11 or higher.     • Synology NAS administrators must be set up as an email notification when 2-step authentication is enabled.

  • Fixed an issue where IPv6 might fail when Bond is established.
  • Fixed an issue where IPv6 might fail to be enabled when the Firewall notification is enabled.

  • DSM
    • For an easier management, Key Manager can now be stored locally on Synology NAS. Encrypted shared folders can be auto-mounted without the need for a USB drive. (To achieve better data protection, users are suggested to store Key Manager in an external USB drive.)
    • Standard users can now right-click on shared folders in File Station to view Properties.
