Firmware update: Apple iPod 2.1

Apple has released a new firmware for the iPod 2.0 series. The update, numbered 2.1, provides the iPod with improved battery health, backlight and playback performance. For the Windows version of the iPod, Apple has finally added AAC support so that via iTunes purchased songs can be played. Owners of the old series of iPods unfortunately have to make do with version 1.3 and without AAC support. The full list of changes in the 2.1 release can be read below:
