Facebook releases group video chat app in Danish App Store

Facebook has released its video chat app Bonfire in the Danish App Store. It seems to be a test, because the app is not yet available in other countries. Bonfire allows users to chat with, among other things, filters over the video.

The app has been available in the Danish App Store since Tuesday, allowing only people with access to the App Store in that country to install the app. According to the description, Bonfire is an app in which up to eight people can video chat at the same time and play with various effects. It is also possible to take photos within the chats and share them via social media.

Inviting people to Bonfire is done via the Facebook account and the invitations will therefore arrive in the apps of Facebook and FB Messenger after the release of the app. The app seems to be an answer to apps like Houseparty, which have been offering such a feature for some time.

It is unknown when Facebook will release Bonfire in other countries. At the time of writing, the app is not available in the Benelux. Facebook already offers group video chat via Messenger.
