Facebook and Instagram get Shops feature for small stores

Facebook announces Shops, a service that will be integrated into Facebook and Instagram. Small shops can use it to offer their goods on social media. The functionality will be available worldwide in the coming months.

Facebook works with partners like Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and more for its Shops service. Shops is free to use and, according to the social network, is intended for small shops to easily offer their goods online during the corona crisis. Facebook says it pays attention to privacy and has put a page online about it.

The Shops integration works with Facebook and Instagram. Companies can add products to a catalog and customize the graphics by selecting a cover image and choosing accent colors. The Shops are visible to users on company Facebook pages or Instagram profiles.

Stores can promote their Shops through Stories or ads. Customers can contact the company from the Shops. This can be done via Facebook services WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram Direct. From Tuesday, Facebook Shops will be released. According to the social network, the functionality will be available worldwide in the coming months.
