Jay Wilson, game director at Blizzard, has decided to leave the company after ten years. Wilson is known for his work on the game Diablo III and has also worked on the mmorpg World of Warcraft. He previously worked for Relic Entertainment.

On Twitter, Wilson know that he “spent the best ten years of his life at Blizzard.” He adds that he now wants to follow his original passion, which is writing. He was already working on that when he started his job at Blizzard. He worked there for seven years on Diablo III, until January 2013. Then he was succeeded by Josh Mosqueira.

The development and release of Diablo III did not go without a hitch, as fans were very critical after the game was released. Much of this criticism was aimed directly at Jay Wilson, and David Brevik, the creator of the Diablo series, also argued that Diablo 3 had become a very different game from the one he made himself. Wilson then called him a “loser” on Facebook, after which he offered appropriate apologies.

Blizzard made some major changes to Diablo III over time, including tweaking the loot system and removing the auction house.
