Mega Maker follows a similar concept to Mario Maker, but it is an unofficial game, not supported by developer Capcom. It is not yet known whether the owner of the rights will attempt to take the game offline. The developers of Mega Maker state on the website that they will not charge for the game. The developers do have a Patreon page for donations, they state that the money raised is used to host the servers.

In Mega Maker, users can create their own levels and share them with others. 46 different enemies can be added, 29 objects, 12 bosses and 24 special weapons. There is a choice of 40 backgrounds, 129 tilesets and 63 music tracks. The game will include a tutorial explaining how to create levels. According to the developers, Mega Maker has been in development since September last year. It started as a one person project, but the team now consists of eight people. After the July 15 release, the team will continue to release patches and add content.
