Details suspected Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 are coming out

Details have emerged of what will likely be called the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The system-on-a-chip for smartphones has Arm Cortex A710 and A510 cores, according to a screenshot doing the rounds.

The screenshot appears to be from a benchmark database and comes from the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station. In the past, it has often shown that it has correct information about unannounced processors.

Qualcomm will probably have the soc made at Samsung at 4nm, Digital Chat Station reports. Qualcomm also has its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 made there. The screenshot shows that the CPU is divided into two clusters, both with four processor cores. It concerns four Cortex A710 cores at 2.36GHz and four A510 cores at 1.8GHz, both from Arm. The GPU is an Adreno 662.

If Qualcomm continues the naming from its high-end series, the soc will be called Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. It’s unknown if that will happen, as Qualcomm typically releases one or two socs in its 8-series each year, while the 7-series occasionally releases more models per year. Last year those were the 778G and 780.

Qualcomm has not responded to the details coming online. If the data is in a benchmark, the soc is presumably already in production or soon to be. Qualcomm announced the 778G in May last year.
