CD Projekt Red will not release a Switch version of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, which is based on the card game Gwent from The Witcher series, will not be released on Nintendo Switch or mobile. Developer CD Projekt Red has not given any reason for the choice.
Eurogamer has asked the developer if a Nintendo Switch version of Thronebreaker will be released in the future. CD Projekt Red emphasizes that it has no intention of releasing the game on platforms other than PC, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The answer has not been further explained.
The PC version was released on October 23, simultaneously with the free-to-play variant Gwent: The Witcher Cardgame. Both Thronebreaker and Gwent console releases will follow on December 4. Whether Gwent will also not get a release for the Nintendo Switch or other mobile platforms is unknown. Many card games will be released for mobile, given the low system requirements and the popularity of these types of games on smartphones, tablets and mobile consoles.
Thronebreaker is a single player variant of Gwent and has a playing time of approximately thirty hours. The campaign revolves around a queen who travels and fights to save her country. The PC version of Thronebreaker on GOG.com costs 25.89 euros. The PS4 version and Xbox One version cost 26.99 euros and 25.99 euros respectively.
