Bowers & Wilkins releases its first fully wireless Bluetooth earphones. The brand comes with two models, the PI5 and PI7, both of which are equipped with active noise canceling. The PI7 top model has three microphones per ear and costs 399 euros.

B&W PI7

The Bowers & Wilkins PI5 and PI7 can be connected wirelessly to multiple devices and can be connected to voice assistants such as Siri and Google Assistant. The earphones can be set via the Bowers & Wilkins app. The top-of-the-line PI7 supports 24-bit audio and the Qualcomm aptX Adaptive codec. The earphones each have two 9.2mm drivers, four amplifiers and an ‘advanced digital signal processor’, which should result in a high sound quality. Furthermore, the PI7 has active noise canceling that adapts to the environment and can use three microphones per earpiece.

Bowers & Wilkins supplies the PI7 in a charging case that can be charged wirelessly and can also serve as a bluetooth source. This works by connecting the box with USB or a 3.5mm cable to a device without Bluetooth, such as an old speaker or an aircraft entertainment system. The PI7 earphones have a suggested retail price of 399 euros.

B&W PI5

The Bowers & Wilkins PI5 earphones are a lot cheaper with a suggested retail price of 249 euros, but this version has one driver and one microphone per ear. The charging case of the PI5 also has no connections and therefore no Bluetooth function. On a battery charge, the PI5 and PI7 last about 4.5 and 4 hours respectively. The charging case adds 22.5 and 20 hours to that. The earphones are for sale immediately.
