BlackBerry has announced Blend, a service that makes it possible to display incoming e-mails, messages and files such as documents on a BlackBerry device on computers and tablets. The service will be available first for the BlackBerry Passport.

Blend allows a BlackBerry user to access their smartphone remotely. For example, it is possible to display e-mails and messages that arrive on a BlackBerry smartphone on a computer or tablet. Also files, such as documents, can be viewed remotely. To use Blend, an app must be installed, which is available for Android and iOS users. Those who want access via Windows or Mac can access their smartphone via the url blackberry.com/blend.

The BlackBerry Passport has built-in support for Blend on board. In addition, the P’9983 Porsche smartphone is also supported. It is unclear whether more BlackBerry devices will be available on Blend in the short term, but this seems plausible.

Blend is free to use by consumers. BlackBerry proposes to come up with a business version in a few weeks that requires a subscription. What extra features this business version will receive will also be announced in a few weeks.
