The German store CaseKing has started selling the Core i9 9990XE for 3000 euros. Intel itself only supplies this processor with fourteen cores and a clock speed of 4GHz to builders of high-end systems via auctions.

The Core i9 9990XE is unreservedly in the CaseKing range. For example, a customer can put 99 pieces of it in his shopping cart. The German store is the first to supply the processor. Intel introduced the chip sometime early this year without much publicity, and AnandTech reported at the time that Intel would hold a quarterly closed online auction for system integrators. Only three system builders would participate in the first auction, including CaseKing, as it turns out.

That store is known for the supply of ‘extravagant hardware’. The expectation was that the Core i9 9990XE would end up in extreme high-end turnkey systems, but the processor now appears to be delivered separately. The processor has fourteen cores and a clock speed of 4GHz, with a Turbo of up to 5GHz. Intel has specially selected the processors to be able to achieve these clock speeds.
