Apple has announced its new Beats Studio Buds. These wireless earplugs will appear on the market in the summer and will then have a suggested retail price of 149.95 euros. The earplugs offer full support for Android smartphones, among other things.

The Beats Studio Buds appeared on Apple’s website on Monday. The wireless earbuds get active noise cancellation, among other things. The earplugs also have a transparency mode, in which ambient noise is amplified by the microphones of the earplugs. The earbuds also support Spatial Audio on music mixed for Dolby Atmos. Apple claims, among other things, that the batteries in the earplugs should be good for eight hours of listening time without active noise cancellation or transparency mode. When one of these features is enabled, the batteries would last up to five hours.

Apple supplies the Beats Studio Buds with a charging case that should be able to fully charge the earbuds twice. This would extend the battery life to a maximum of 24 hours, without active noise cancellation. According to Apple, after a five-minute charge, users can expect up to an hour of additional listening time. The case charges via USB-C, but does not support wireless charging.

The earbuds also support various Android features. For example, Apple provides the Beats Studio Buds with Fast Pair support, according to a press release. This automatically links the earbuds to a user’s Google account after initial installation. Through the Beats app, users can access status information such as battery level and firmware updates. Apple AirPods also work on Android smartphones, but users cannot install firmware updates on that platform, for example. These features are already built into iOS. On iOS devices, the Beats Studio Buds also offer hands-free support for Siri and fast pairing. The Studio Buds also support Apple’s FindMy app.

There have been rumors about the Beats Studio Buds for some time now. The earbuds recently appeared in the code of the first iOS 14.6 beta. Photos of celebrities wearing the earplugs also appeared on social media this month, Engadget also writes. The earplugs will be released in the United States and Canada on June 24. A European release date has not yet been announced, but Apple reports that the earplugs will be available this summer. Apple is releasing red, black and white variants of the Beats Studio Buds.
