Adobe releases streaming version of Photoshop for Chrome

Adobe comes with a browser version of its popular photo editing tool Photoshop. The browser version is for Chromebooks and Google Chrome; it is unclear whether users of other browsers will also be able to use the tool later.

Adobe already has a web editor for photos, but it is less functional than the desktop version: for example, photos larger than 16 megapixels cannot be opened. However, the Photoshop version for the Chromebook and Chrome seems to be complete: “Photoshop as you know it is now also on Chrome OS,” reads the announcement from Google.

It is a streaming version: that means that the calculations are done in the cloud, and the user actually interacts with a stream. This means that the tool cannot be used offline. Other Adobe products will be accessible from the web browser later, Adobe promises.

At the moment, the tool can already be tested, but only by US users who additionally need to have a paid Creative Cloud subscription.
