Acer introduces 2-in-1 laptop with Core i7 and liquid cooling

Acer has announced the Switch Alpha 12, a 2-in-1 laptop-tablet combo that the company is releasing with Skylake-generation Core processors. Acer uses liquid cooling for quiet operation. In addition, the manufacturer comes with the Aspire S13 ultrabook.

Acer ships the Switch Alpha 12 with Core i3s, Core i5s and Core i7s without the need for a fan, thanks to the use of a liquid cooling system the company calls LiquidLoop. The company does not provide details about this system, but it is said to keep the temperature in the 0.95cm thick tablet stable and provide quiet operation. Including keyboard, the convertible is 1.58 cm thick and the weight is then 1.25 kg. The housing is made of aluminum and Acer optionally supplies a keyboard with backlight.

The Switch Alpha 12 features a 12″ display with an IPS panel and a resolution of 2160×1440 pixels. Acer offers a choice of a stylus with support for 256 pressure levels, preparing the 2-in-1 for the arrival of Windows Ink Workspace In order to put the screen upright, a stand is available that can be set at an angle of up to 165 degrees.

At its New York product event, Acer also announced the Aspire S13. This is a 13.3″ ultrabook with an optional touchscreen and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The S13 will receive Core processors from the Skylake generation and a maximum of 8GB lpddr3. In addition to a USB 3.0 port, this model also has a USB-C The thickness is 1.46cm, the weight is 1.43kg and the battery capacity is 54Wh.In May the Aspire S13 will be available in white and black for a starting price of 799 euros.
