Apple will continue to use the A15 soc from the iPhone 13 series for the iPhone 14 and 14 Max, claims the well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would get a new A16 soc. All four iPhones would be equipped with 6GB of RAM.

It is not clear why Apple would not provide all phones with the new soc. In recent years, the manufacturer has always provided the entire line-up with the same soc when introducing new iPhones. It is not yet known what the differences will be between the A15 and A16. Last year, The Information wrote that Apple is having the A16 made on TSMC’s N4P process. That is an improved version of the 5nm process on which the A15 is made.

According to the information from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo the iPhone 14 models with A15-soc will get more ram. All models would be equipped with 6GB. With the current generation, only the Pro models have that and the regular variants are equipped with 4GB. Apple would use Lpddr5 for the iPhone 14 Pro models. According to Kuo, the regular models will receive Lpddr4x again.

Apple is expected to announce the four iPhone 14 models in September. Unlike the last two years, there would be no more mini version. The iPhone 14 Pro models would no longer have a notch, but a small round hole and a pill-shaped hole in the screen.
