Western Digital has announced the WD Black SN750. The new generation of WD SSDs now includes a 2TB model. Like the previous generation, the SSD is still based on 64-layer 3D NAND.

The WD Black SN750 series consists of PCI-E 3.0 x4 NVME SSDs, which will be available in m2 2280 form factor. In addition to using 64-layer 3d-nand, the controller of the WD Black SN750 is also identical to that of the previous model, which appeared as SN700 and SN720 models.

The speed gain is therefore limited and only comes from firmware improvements, says AnandTech, who could already subject the SSD to a test. The main innovation offered by the new WD Black SSDs is the addition of a 2TB model to the existing range of 250GB, 500GB and 1TB models.

That 2TB SSD is slightly slower than the 1TB model, because this SSD is made up of 512Gb dies instead of 256Gb dies. Furthermore, WD comes with variants aimed at gamers with a heatsink, except for the 250GB version. These do not differ from the regular SSDs in terms of properties.
