WD Provides My Book Duo With 20TB Storage Capacity

WD has updated its My Book Duo HDDs and is now also releasing a variant with a storage capacity of 20TB. The My Book Duo is a housing containing two HDDs, which can be set in raid 0 or raid 1.

According to WD, the sequential read speed via USB-C is a maximum of 360MB/s, if the drives are set to raid 0. That is also the standard configuration of the HDDs, raid 1 for redundancy is optional. The housings contain WD Red HDDs. The 20TB My Book Duo uses two 10TB HDDs.

The new My Book Duo is 18cm high, 10cm wide and 16cm deep. The external HDDs are connected via the USB-C port. WD supplies cables to connect the box to a USB-C port or a USB-A port. There are also two USB-a ports that can be used to connect a keyboard or mouse, for example.

WD ships the new My Book Duo in 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, 12TB, 16TB and 20TB configurations. In all cases it concerns a housing with two HDDs. The cheapest model costs 310 euros and the version with the highest storage capacity has a suggested retail price of 740 euros. The two 10TB drives included in that model cost the same at the time of writing.
