WABetaInfo: WhatsApp is working on an option to plan activities in group chats

WhatsApp is working on a feature that makes it possible to send invitations for activities or meetings in group chats. Users can add a location or a scheduled video call to the invitation. Reminders can also be sent.

In WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.23.21.12, a new Event button has been added to the attachment menu for group chats, writes WABetaInfo. Allows users to schedule an event. They can enter a name and description, and optionally add a location or video call. When an event is created, it is automatically added to the conversation. Participants can then accept the invitation.

It is also possible to set reminders for the planned activities, so that invitees receive a notification at a set time. Like the rest of the chat messages, these events are also end-to-end encrypted, WABetaInfo claims. For the time being, the function only seems to work for group chats within the Communities function. The Event function is still under development. It is not yet known when this will become available to regular users.

Discovered earlier WABetaInfo already has a similar feature that makes it possible to schedule video calls in group calls. Users can also set a reminder, whereby participants receive a reminder fifteen minutes before the conversation.
