A video has surfaced online showing the start menu in Windows 9. According to the video, users can set the tiles themselves in the start menu, but can also choose not to show tiles in the start menu and keep the Windows 8 start screen.

The video was made by the German site WinFuture based on the same build from which screenshots appeared online on Thursday. Those screenshots came from another German site. The screen clearly states that it is a ‘technical preview’ of the next version of Windows.

The video shows how the user adds and removes tiles from the start menu, but also the option to use tiles in the start screen or in the start menu. The video also shows that ‘Metro’-style apps now behave like other Windows programs with their own taskbar and no longer have to run full screen or split screen. Microsoft is expected to release the next version of Windows, codenamed Threshold, late this month or early next month and release it in the spring of next year.
