A video has appeared online of what the software calls the ‘Iron GAFP’, a Nokia phone with no touchscreen and with Android. The phone includes Google Assistant and Google Maps. The Android version is 8.1.

The poster of the video, rider95, says on Steemit that it’s possible Google will show more about the phone at its hardware event on October 15. The one-minute video shows a prototype of an Android phone without a touchscreen. Input is provided with a d-pad and numeric keys, while there is a Google Assistant to command the phone via voice. The phone is the same as the one seen in photos before.

There have been rumors for some time that Google is working on a version of Android without touchscreens. According to 9to5 Google, the search giant has recently scrapped the version of Chrome for phones without touchscreens. As a result, it is unknown whether the Android version would still be on the roadmap.

Up to now, Nokia has used KaiOS on cheap phones without touchscreens in addition to its own operating system, an operating system in which Google also invested and for which various Google apps are available.
