Valve is holding a Steam Game Festival in the summer of this year, where developers can digitally showcase their upcoming games. The event will take place between June 9 and 14. Developers can release demos of their games there and hold live events.

The Steam Games Festival will take place between June 9 and 14. The E3 game fair was supposed to be held that same week, but that event was canceled due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. Demos of upcoming games should be released during the Steam Game Festival. This allows users to try out games that may have been playable during E3. Developers will also be given the opportunity to host live events and players will be able to ‘connect with developers’. Developers can register for the event until April 24 and must have a playable demo of their game ready by May 15. The games shown must be released before the summer of 2021.

Valve organizes the festival in collaboration with Geoff Keighley, a producer who has been involved in organizing E3 for many years. It will be the third Game Festival that the company organizes. The first festival took place in December, during The Game Awards. The company showed a total of fourteen games there for 48 hours. In March, Valve held another event, where the company showed indie games that were supposed to be presented at the GDC, but that event was also canceled due to the corona virus.
